Round Robin schedules are extremely popular for sports teams because this configuration allows every team to face each other at least one time. This type of scheduling guarantees balanced competition within the league. Regardless of the nature of your team, a Round Robin schedule can be crafted with a fully customizable planning tool.
The Round Robin Formula
To begin, the master scheduler should make a list of all the teams in their league. The number of teams will be used to determine the amount of games to be played. This can be done with a simple formula. Consider the total number of teams then multiply that number by one less than the total number of teams. Next, divide the product by two. For example, if there are ten teams, the formula would be: 10 x (10-1) / 2. For a ten-team tournament where every team matches up at least once, this would be 45 games. This made easier by PLANDISC when the master schedule embed calendar.
The planning cycle can be utilized by tracking the matches. For example, two circles can be created when you embed calendar. Team names can be entered onto the planning tool’s grid using the following pattern. For ten teams, start by matching up team 1 vs. team 10, team 2 vs. team 9, team 3 vs. team 8 and so forth. For the next set of games, schedule team 1 vs. team 9, team 2 vs. team 8 and so on. Continue to progress all the way through every possible matchup until all sets of games have been created.
If the league has an odd number of teams, every week will have one team experiencing a bye, or a week without a game played. That team can be highlighted on the PLANDISC planning tool for easy management. Hence managing all this won’t be a rocket science if you intend to embed calendar for your planning cycle.
Additional Benefits of a PLANDISC round robin
The PLANDISC planning cycle gives league managers the option to attach files. Sports managers may opt to add individual team rosters, individual statistics, and game statistics and so on. Once the PLANDISC has been edited, it can be shared easily. Team managers, parents of team members and team members themselves can each receive or be given access to the league’s PLANDISC. Relevant members of the league can use this access to plan team practices and other special events. In addition, having access to the league’s schedule gives them easy access to changes in the schedule, tracking rain dates, and more.
